Our Vagabond Videographer duo Cassandra & Edwin of Slate Takes!

Ever wonder who filmed the web series for The Vagabond Project in both Hong Kong & Beijing?  Well Slate Takes Limited is Hong Kong-based videographer team Cassandra & Edwin, who spent 12 hour days (especially in Beijing!) filming Millana throughout her Asian journey…  and what a stellar job they did! I don’t know much about cameras or lenses, but these film junkies hauled their collection of cameras and equipment through a packed adventure- Mid-Autumn Festival, Great Wall of China, and Macau’s Sky Tower- to name a few. An incredible thanks to the both of them for their film work!

Editing one of our favorite webisodes yet, Hungry Ghosts (Fringe Club Performance & Interview Sesh!)

This is Hungry Ghosts.  The eclectic, HK-based indie rock group sat down with Millana for a one on one a few days after their Fringe Club performance to tell us about life as a band, the Hong Kong music scene and what we needed to do before heading back to the US. Big thanks to these folks for letting us check out their practice session at WESC.

Producers & Co-Founders Discuss the Making & Launching of the first series of The Vagabond Project!

No passport yet? No worries. Travel the world from your apartment with The Vagabond Project’s web-based video series around discovering international “cool” for young influencers.

NEW YORK CITY, Nov. 8, 2011 — The Vagabond Project, an international travel-based video series focused around discovering international ‘cool’, has launched their first video, a producers’ discussion on the process of curating a webisode series for the contemporary travel consumer. The video includes behind-the-scenes footage from filming in Hong Kong and Beijing (http://bit.ly/vagaproj).

When launched, the first series will be hosted by engaging, eclectic and loveable, Millana Snow, model winner of Emmy-nominated Project Runway, season eight.  The series follows Snow as she travels through Hong Kong and Beijing, with the help of local indie guides. Snow goes from partying at underground Berlin-style basement parties featuring LA-based, electronic music producer SAMIYAM to escaping the city’s skyscrapers for a wakeboarding session, as well as experiencing traditional Chinese ‘not-for-tourists’ street food, giving viewers tips and ideas when traveling abroad.

As TV networks continue to move towards web-based distribution channels, video series found online are becoming increasingly relevant for today’s tech-driven youth. The Vagabond Project is evolving the way young influencers discover international travel destinations through a video series that taps into Gen-Y subcultures such as art, music, culture, sustainability, food, fashion and adventure.

Courtney Haefner and Brian Arcese, Co-Founders of The Vagabond Project, have teamed up to build an original user experience that has not existed for this community, which bridges the gap between young influencers and global-minded organizations. Haefner explains, “we want to build an open-line of communication that allows our audience to connect to sub-cultures and communities abroad, while allowing tourism boards and global businesses to share their city’s offerings to young travelers.”
